Radiotherapy

The mission of the Radiation Oncology department (including Cancer Research Institute) is to provide compassionate, state-of-the-art, quality radiation treatment to cancer patients integrating education, clinical research, and radiation physics.  The department focuses on both, conventional and cutting-edge techniques.

The department is the most comprehensive facility of its kind in the state of Uttarakhand. Board-certified radiation oncologists are skilled in a wide range of standard and emerging treatments which are continuously refined to deliver the highest-quality patient care possible. Our range of equipment & treatment strategies include latest techniques to treat tumours, ensuring that tumours get the most effective dose while healthy tissues & organs are spared even as some of the side-effects that accompany radiation (treatment) are reduced / eliminated.

The Radiation Oncology Department is equipped with two LINACs with facilities of Photon Beam, Electron Beam, 3D-CRT, IMRT along with latest brachytherapy Technologies. Department has Indoor wards for   diagnosis of cancer, chemotherapy, concomitant chemoradiotherapy, supportive care and oncology emergencies.

Besides the teaching in the MBBS program, we also offer a 3-year M.D program giving unique opportunities to expand clinical & research experience, and familiarity with the prevention & treatment of cancers with application of technology, and 3DCRT or intensity-modulated radiotherapy.

Additionally, paramedical courses like B.Sc. Radiotherapy are run to train the students for effective and safe use of radiation.

Through a variety of publications, Radiation Oncology offers news and information on the latest in cancer treatment, research, prevention and education.
