Commander Challa Venkateswar (Retd.) holds a postgraduate degree in Solid State Physics from Agra University, Agra, and another postgraduate degree in Telecommunications from Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT), Kochi. He has been a member of the Institute of Electronics & Telecommunications Engineering (IETE) since 2000.
Commissioned by the President of India in the Indian Navy as an Education Officer with the rank of Sub-Lieutenant on 17 August 1987, he served for 23 years, rising to the rank of Commander. During his tenure, he trained sailors and officers of the Indian Navy and those from friendly countries, and held various administrative positions, including Joint Director, Naval Education at the Integrated Headquarters Ministry of Defence (Navy), Government of India.
Commander Venkateswar has been commended by the Chief of the Naval Staff in 2000 and received commendations twice from the Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Southern Naval Command, in 1991 and 1999, for exemplary services.
He has over eight years of experience as Deputy Registrar in Higher Educational Institutions such as the Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (Deemed to be University), Sant Longowal Institute of Engineering and Technology (Centrally Funded Technical Institution), and the University of Hyderabad (Central University). He also served as the Registrar of the National Sanskrit University (Central University), Tirupati before joining as the Registrar of Swami Rama Himalayan University, Dehradun.
