The Department of Clinical Research, Himalayan Institute of Medical Sciences (HIMS), Swami Rama Himalayan University (SRHU), successfully concluded the Fourth Five-Week Training Programme on “Ensuring Integrity in Healthcare: Good Clinical Practice & Medical Ethics” with a valedictory ceremony held on 29 July 2026 at the B.C. Roy Auditorium, HIMS, SRHU. Conducted from 30 June to 29 July 2026, the programme was sponsored by the Department of Health Research (DHR), Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India, under the leadership of Dr. Nikku Yadav, Principal Investigator.
The ceremony commenced with the traditional Lamp Lighting and Guru Vandana, followed by a Welcome Address by Dr. Ahmadulla Shariff, Dean, HIMS, SRHU, who emphasized the importance of ethics, scientific integrity, and Good Clinical Practice in advancing quality healthcare and research. A video presentation, “Journey Through the Training Programme,” showcased the highlights of the five-week learning experience. The Chief Guest, Dr. Vijendra Chauhan, Director General, Academic Development, SRHU, congratulated all the participants on successfully completing the five-week training programme. He commended the Department of Clinical Research for meticulously designing and executing a comprehensive programme that not only strengthened participants’ knowledge of Good Clinical Practice and Medical Ethics but also emphasized the importance of spirituality, self-awareness, and human values in healthcare. He appreciated the organizing team for thoughtfully integrating sessions on spirituality, recognizing that nurturing compassionate and ethical healthcare professionals is as important as developing scientific competence. He also highlighted the educational significance of the visit to Swami Rama Sadhaka Grama, which provided participants with a unique opportunity to experience the philosophy of holistic healthcare and the teachings of Swami Rama, complementing the academic components of the programme. Dr. Chauhan further acknowledged the dedicated efforts of the organizing team in successfully engaging participants throughout the intensive five-week programme, describing it as a challenging achievement that reflected the team’s commitment, meticulous planning, and innovative approach to learning.
The programme comprised 112 contact hours, including 51 expert lectures (77.5 hours) and 16 hands-on practical sessions (34.5 hours) delivered by 25 in-house faculty members and distinguished external experts. Participants received training in Good Clinical Practice, medical ethics, clinical trial management, regulatory affairs, informed consent, research integrity, scientific writing, publication ethics, biostatistics, artificial intelligence in research, and software applications including SPSS, Jamovi, GraphPad, Clinical Trial Management System, and Turnitin. Educational visits to the Ayurveda Centre, Swami Rama Sadhaka Gram, ACIC-SIIC Innovation Centre, Himalayan School of Yoga Sciences, Clinical Trial Centre, Skill and Simulation Centre, and Cadaveric Laboratory further enhanced practical learning.
The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from 32 undergraduate students representing Maharaja College, Saharanpur, Dolphin (PG) Institute, and various schools of Swami Rama Himalayan University, fostering multidisciplinary learning and collaboration. Certificates were awarded to all participants and faculty members during the ceremony.. Participants who maintained 100% attendance throughout the five-week training programme were also presented with Certificates of Appreciation in recognition of their dedication, commitment, and sincerity.
The successful completion of the fourth edition of the training programme reaffirmed Swami Rama Himalayan University’s commitment to strengthening ethical clinical research, promoting research integrity, and developing competent healthcare professionals capable of contributing effectively to the evolving field of clinical research. The training program was delivered by an eminent panel of resource faculty comprising Dr. Bindu Dey, Dr. Yogendra Singh, Dr. Ruchi Juyal, Dr. Amjad Husain, Dr. A. K. Srivastava, Dr. Abha Srivastava, Dr. Nikku Yadav, Dr. Deep Shika, Dr. Kiran Bhat, Dr. Anupama Mishra, Dr. Priya Ranjan Avinash, Dr. Geeta Bhandari, Dr. Manisha Sharma, and Dr. Ayusman, Dr Grace Madona, Ms Ekta Rao, Mr Abhinav Bahuguna, Ms Akanksha Sharma who shared their expertise and enriched the learning experience of the participants through their insightful sessions.
