Swami Rama Himalayan University (SRHU) and Vionix Biosciences signed a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on 29 June 2026, establishing a strategic partnership to advance cutting-edge research, innovation, and translational healthcare through Artificial Intelligence (AI)-enabled spectral diagnostic technologies. The collaboration aims to leverage the complementary strengths of both organizations to develop affordable, accessible, and high-precision diagnostic solutions for diseases of public health importance.
The MoU Signing Ceremony was held at the Conference Hall of the Himalayan Institute of Medical Sciences (HIMS), SRHU, in the distinguished presence of Dr. Vijay Dhasmana, Hon’ble President, SRHU; Dr. Rajendra Dobhal, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor; Prof. (Dr.) A. K. Deorari, Pro Vice Chancellor; senior university leadership, faculty members, and representatives of Vionix Biosciences.
Introducing SRHU, Dr. A. Shariff, Dean, HIMS, highlighted the University’s strengths in medical education, patient care, research, innovation, and interdisciplinary collaborations. He emphasized SRHU’s commitment to fostering partnerships that translate scientific discoveries into impactful healthcare solutions.
In his address, Prof. (Dr.) A. K. Deorari, Pro Vice Chancellor, SRHU, emphasized that the collaboration should focus on proof-of-concept studies, disease modelling, collaborative research projects, advanced diagnostics, and joint protocol development with active participation of SRHU researchers. He expressed confidence that the partnership would create new opportunities for high-quality translational research and innovation.
Speaking on behalf of Vionix Biosciences, Mr. Vivek Wadhwa, Chief Executive Officer, outlined several key areas of collaboration, including AI-enabled diagnostic technologies, cancer diagnostics, disease diagnosis, water quality testing, microplastic detection, environmental monitoring, and advanced analytical technologies. He reaffirmed Vionix Biosciences’ commitment to working closely with SRHU to develop next-generation healthcare solutions.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Rajendra Dobhal, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, SRHU, highlighted the University’s ongoing work in water quality assessment across different geographical regions and emphasized the growing role of advanced technologies and artificial intelligence in healthcare and environmental sciences. He expressed confidence that the collaboration would significantly strengthen research in precision diagnostics, cancer research, environmental health, and public health.
Dr. Vijay Dhasmana, Hon’ble President, SRHU, who graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, congratulated both institutions on this visionary collaboration. He encouraged both teams to work together in developing innovative technologies, impactful research projects, and sustainable healthcare solutions that would benefit society and contribute to national scientific advancement.
A major highlight of the event was the inauguration of the Himalayan Center of Spectral Intelligence at the Himalayan Institute of Medical Sciences (HIMS), SRHU, by Dr. Vijay Dhasmana, Hon’ble President, SRHU, and Dr. Rajendra Dobhal, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, SRHU, in the presence of university leaders and representatives from Vionix Biosciences. The Centre will function as a multidisciplinary research hub dedicated to AI-driven spectral diagnostics, initially focusing on rapid detection of Urinary Tract Infections (UTIs) and subsequently expanding its research to cancer diagnostics, infectious diseases, toxicology, environmental health, and water quality assessment.
The ceremony witnessed the enthusiastic participation of all Deans, Directors, Heads of Departments, faculty members, researchers, clinicians, students, and administrative officials of SRHU, reflecting the University’s strong commitment to promoting industry-academia collaboration and research excellence. The programme was successfully coordinated by Dr. Nikku Yadav, Head, Department of Clinical Research, HIMS, SRHU.
This strategic partnership is expected to facilitate collaborative research projects, clinical validation, technology transfer, protocol development, innovation in AI-enabled diagnostics, and capacity building, further strengthening SRHU’s vision of becoming a globally recognized, research-driven university committed to improving healthcare through science and innovation.
