On 23 May 2026, Swami Rama Himalayan University (SRHU) organized a Certificate Distribution Ceremony to mark the successful completion of the 6th batch of short-term skill development courses. A total of 52 students were awarded certificates for successfully completing three-month courses in Office Assistant cum Computer Operator and Electrician cum Plumbing.
The programme commenced with the traditional lamp-lighting ceremony. Dr. Rajeev Bijalwan, Deputy Director, Rural Development Institute (RDI), welcomed the guests and presented an overview of the initiative. In his address, he emphasized that the future will not only depend on academic education but also on skill management and practical competencies. He highlighted that the courses are equipping youth with professional skills such as computer literacy, documentation, data analysis, office communication, project management, and teamwork. He further shared that the Electrician and Plumbing courses are opening avenues for self-employment and sustainable livelihoods, with several trainees already securing jobs and others starting their own ventures after completing the programme.
The chief guest, Dr. Ashok Deorari, Hon’ble Pro Vice Chancellor of SRHU, distributed certificates to the participants in the presence of Er. H. P. Uniyal, Advisor, SRHU, and the Registrar, SRHU. Addressing the gathering, Dr. Deorari underlined the importance of integrated and free-of-cost skill development programmes in enhancing employability and preparing youth for future opportunities. He remarked that despite the rapid advancement of Artificial Intelligence, practical and technical skills will continue to remain highly relevant for the younger generation.
Ms. Neelam Pandey, Programme Manager, RDI, presented a detailed overview of the programme through a video presentation highlighting the challenges, achievements, and impact of the skill development initiatives. The presentation acknowledged the contributions of the teams from the School of Science and Technology, School of Management, C-PACE, Engineering Department, WatSan Unit, and RDI.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Mr. Nitesh Kaushik, Deputy Director, WatSan, who expressed gratitude to all guests, faculty members, trainers, and participants, while extending best wishes to the students for their future endeavours.
The event was attended by trainers Omprakash Raturi, Akhilesh Goswami, Amrita Kudiyal, and Deepak Joshi, along with dignitaries and institutional representatives including Ravindra Verma, Vivek Anand, Vikesh Semwal, Prachi, Dr. Naincy, and Ms. Shikha.
