The IEEE Women in Engineering (IEEE WIE) Student Branch Affinity Group, School of Science & Technology (SST), Swami Rama Himalayan University (SRHU), successfully organized the IEEE WIE Day 2026 Celebration, a series of technical, creative, and intellectual activities inspired by the global IEEE WIE Day 2026 theme, “Technology with Purpose: Innovate Responsibly, Inspire Globally, Lead with Integrity.” The celebrations were conducted under the guidance of Prof. (Dr.) Pramod Kumar, Dean, School of Science & Technology, and were efficiently coordinated by Ms. Shefali Khatri, IEEE WIE Coordinator and Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, School of Science & Technology, SRHU.
The celebration witnessed enthusiastic participation from students across various departments of the School of Science & Technology and featured a diverse lineup of events designed to promote critical thinking, technological innovation, creativity, and ethical leadership. The activities included a Debate Competition on the contemporary topic, “The Smart Device Dilemma: Are We Utilizing Technology to Enhance Life, or Surrendering Our Freedom to Digital Control?”, where participants demonstrated exceptional analytical thinking, communication, and debating skills through individual presentations, interactive debates, and audience question-and-answer sessions.
To encourage digital creativity and impactful communication, the IEEE WIE Student Branch Affinity Group also organized an Online Reel-Making Competition, providing students with a platform to creatively interpret the IEEE WIE Day 2026 theme through short-form digital storytelling and showcase their ideas on technology, innovation, leadership, and ethical responsibility.
The IEEE WIE Student Branch Affinity Group, in collaboration with the Google Gemini Campus Ambassador Program, organized the hands-on technical workshop “Tech with Purpose: Battle of Bands” on Nano Banana & Lyria. Participants worked collaboratively to create AI-powered virtual music bands, generate original digital soundtracks and explore the responsible and ethical application of generative AI technologies. The celebration concluded with a Cake Cutting Ceremony, bringing together students, faculty members, and coordinators to commemorate the spirit of IEEE WIE Day and its mission of empowering future innovators.
