The School of Management Studies (SMS) at Swami Rama Himalayan University (SRHU), in collaboration with ACIC–SIIC and the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Uttarakhand, successfully concluded a comprehensive two-day state-level programme titled “Uttarakhand Vision 2035: Entrepreneurship, Innovation & SDGs” on Saturday. Geared toward addressing the socio-ecological imperatives, biodiversity preservation, and fragile mountain geography of Uttarakhand and the broader Himalayan region, the event brought together visionary academicians, industry leaders, policymakers, and budding student entrepreneurs to deliberate on creating sustainable livelihoods and charting a roadmap for inclusive regional growth.
The opening day, hosted at the SMS Building, was dedicated to the Innovation Ideathon and inaugurated in the presence of distinguished guests including Ms. Kavita Gupta (Founder, Mamtree), Mr. Sunil Uniyal (President, Uttarakhand Industries Welfare Association), and Dr. Amjad Husain (CEO, ACIC–SIIC), alongside esteemed jury members. Setting an energetic tone, students performed a thought-provoking skit underscoring grassroots problem-solving. The centerpiece of the day was an exhibition featuring 23 interdisciplinary student teams who set up dedicated stalls to demonstrate viable, eco-conscious prototypes targeting regional challenges such as waste valorization, renewable energy, and agro-value chains, culminating in the shortlisting of five standout teams for the Grand Finale.
The proceedings continued on the second day at the Adi Kailash Auditorium with the Entrepreneurship Conclave, inaugurated with the traditional lighting of the lamp. Dignitaries including CII Uttarakhand delegates Mr. Pavitra Arora (Chartered Accountant) and Mr. Anil Gupta (Vice President, Genus Power Systems), alongside SRHU Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor Dr. Prasad A. Wadegaonkar, Dr. Amjad Husain, SMS Director Dr. Taruna Gautam, and SMS Principal Prof. Ritvik Dubey, addressed the gathering. In his address, Vice-Chancellor Dr. Wadegaonkar emphasized that enterprise creation in a sensitive Himalayan state must balance economic viability with environmental guardianship, local employment generation, and mitigating out-migration. This was followed by an insightful panel discussion on “Entrepreneurship & Enterprise Building: Uttarakhand Opportunities for Industry, Start-ups & MSMEs,” where experts underscored the necessity of mountain-specific incubation networks, technological integration with traditional resources, and alignment with Uttarakhand Vision 2035 and the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The conclave culminated in the high-stakes Grand Finale of the Innovation Ideathon, dubbed ‘IMPACT TANK’, where the five finalist teams pitched their scalable business models before the Grand Jury. Following a rigorous evaluation of technical viability and regional impact, Team Kamsetu (MBA, School of Management Studies) emerged as the champions securing the first position, while Team Floreva (BBA 1st Semester) secured the second position and Team Therma Uttarakhand (School of Science and Technology) took third place. Team Invaplast (BBA 1st Semester) and Team Food Guard Biosentry (Bioscience, School of Science and Technology) claimed the fourth and fifth positions, respectively.
The two-day initiative drew to a close with the felicitation of the winning innovators, the presentation of the rapporteur’s synthesis, and a formal Vote of Thanks. By establishing an enduring pipeline from classroom ideation to scalable enterprise building, SRHU, ACIC–SIIC, and CII demonstrated how regional academia-industry collaboration can empower young changemakers to build a self-sustaining, innovative, and green Himalayan economy envisioned for Uttarakhand 2035.
