Healthcare professionals and educators explain rudiments at HIMS Simulation Centre
The Department of Medical Education Himalayan Institute of Medical Sciences Jollygrant, organized a "Healthcare simulation Training of Trainers Workshop" on 16th & 17th August, 2024 in its Skills & Simulation Center of Excellence.
The workshop was Inaugurated by Dr. Vijendra D. Chauhan, Director General (Academics), Dr. Ashok K Deorari, Principal Himalayan College of Medical Sciences and Dr. Renu Dhasmana, Vice Principal, HIMS.
After formal introduction of Participants & Faculty, Dr. Sanober Wasim explained the agenda and objectives of the workshop.
Dr. Ashok K Deorari explained the importance of Simulation in Medical Education. Dr. Rashmi Ramachandran, from AIIMS, New Delhi briefed about components of Simulation Session. Dr. Anu Sachdeva from AIIMS, New Delhi provided introduction to zones and types of simulation and Dr. Shalini Rao from AIIMS, Rishikesh explained about Application of adult learning principles in simulated environment. Dr. Sanober Wasim gave briefing about how we can teach skills using simulations, Dr. Farhanul Huda explained how we can get realism in simulation, Dr. Rashmi Ramachandran explained Teaching crisis management using simulation, Dr. Rakesh Kumar give briefing about In situ simulation and Dr. Rajesh Kumar Sharma explained Systems check using simulation.
Post lunch different workstations of simulation were setup, the first station being how to use manikins and task trainers for teaching simple and complex skills by Dr. Smriti Arora and Dr. Sanober. Second station related to Moulage techniques to improve fidelity by Dr. Shalini Rao and Dr. Farhanul Huda. Third station was Hi-Fidelity simulator- Demo of a scenario by Dr. Anu Sachdeva and the last station showed using apps and innovative techniques to improve fidelity by Dr. Rakesh Kumar and Dr. Rajesh Sharma.
On day 2 Dr. Rashmi Ramachandran gave lecture on Beyond Simulation: The Power of Debriefing in Medical Education. Dr. Farhanul Huda discussed about Demo of types of Debriefing. Then 4 simulation sessions (breakout room) were setup where moderators let participants perform debriefing.
Also Dr. Rakesh Kumar discussed about Difficult Debriefing situations, Dr. Farhanul Huda gave Simulation based Assessment (SBA), Dr. Rajesh Sharma unravelled Introduction to HIMS simulators and equipment and Dr. A K. Deorari thanked the participants for participating in this workshop, and wished and motivated them to perform well in their upcoming teaching in simulation.
