Tan Sri Datuk Dr. Mohan Swami’s contributions in the academic, business and voluntary community services is extraordinary. Presently the Chancellor of Swami Rama Himalayan University, Dr. Mohan Swami is also the Chairman of the Presidential Board, Himalayan Institute Hospital Trust (HIHT), Dehradun, President of AHYMSIN in Rishikesh and Chairman of Epsom Properties Ltd. in Chennai. Being a global citizen Dr. Swami holds key positions as the Executive Chairman of Chase Perdana Sdn Bhd and Executive Chairman of Academic Medical Centre Sdn Bhd in Malaysia.
He is a graduate in Medicine from Mysore University, India and Mahidol University, Bangkok. Dr. Mohan Swami commenced his career in 1978 in the Government Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Kota Kinabalu. His commitment and zeal to improve the health services was such that within a year he was promoted as Assistant Director of Medical Services, Sabah, Malaysia. He has worked extensively with WHO in Tropical Diseases and Malaria control. He later went on to establish one of the largest private group medical practice in Sabah. As the Executive Chairman of Chase Perdana, Dr. Swami was instrumental in consolidating the strength of the organization in the property and construction business in Malaysia and the Middle East. Turiya Berhad, another of his companies is involved in office building and property management, investment holding and electronic chemical business. Academic Medical Centre is a public private partnership project with the Government of Malaysia which owns Perdana University of which Dr. Mohan Swami is the Pro-Chancellor.
Under the guidance and discipleship of H.H. Dr. Swami Rama, he helped to set up the Malaysian Branch of the Himalayan International Institute in Kota Kinabalu in 1991. He has presented papers, delivered lectures and attended many international seminars and conferences. In 2016, Dr. Swami also authored a book ‘A Journey with a Himalayan Master, Swami Rama‘.
A recipient of several esteemed awards such as the Most Eminent Brand ICON Leadership Award in 2011, Panglima Setia Mahkota in 2000 (second most senior Malaysian Federal award), he was listed in the Forbes Asia in 2012 as one of the significant philanthropists in the region and has been featured on the cover of many Business magazines in the Region.
Dr. Mohan Swami, a pleasant personality with a cheerful and spiritual outlook in life, is philanthropic, prefers anonymity, is successful yet humble and practices Universal Brotherhood of mankind in a holistic manner.

Swami Rama Himalayan University (SRHU), established with the consent of the State Government of Uttarakhand in 2013, carries forward the legacy of Gurudev HH Dr. Swami Rama, who founded the 'Himalayan Institute Hospital Trust (HIHT)' in 1989 - the Promoting Society of SRHU.
Swami Rama, venerated for his wisdom, judgment and experience authored many books and published countless scientific papers which are a testament to his literary and philosophical ingenuity in the modern world. His book 'Living with the Himalayan Masters' helped to transform many lives all over the world and is one of the best sellers till date. Even today his name continues to be synonymous with the aphorism enshrined in the Institution’s motto 'Love, Serve, Remember'.
Our Medical, Nursing, Paramedical, Management, Engineering and Technology and other programmes pioneered and delivered in tranquil surroundings and imparted by distinguished faculty, clinicians and researchers are the forefront of medical, technical education and healthcare delivery system in the region. Besides undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in these disciplines, the University also offers Ph.D programmes.
