Students of the National Service Scheme, Swami Ram Himalayan University, conducted a Sanitation Campaign under the Swachh Bharat Mission.
Dr.Susheela Sharma, the Registrar flagged off the rally from the University campus.
Management, Yoga Science, Paramedical, Engineering, Nursing, Bioscience students participated in the rally. They visited neighbouring areas, cleaned the garbage and spread the message of health and hygiene.
They impressed upon the people to keep the streets, roads and infrastructure of the city clean. A lot has been accomplished by this campaign and various parts of the country are already cleaner and with better and more hygienic sanitation options.
To mark the birth anniversary of the Father of our Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, theSwachh Bharat Mission was launched 7 years ago on 2nd October. It has been one of the most appreciated moves by the central government that aims for a cleaner and more hygienic India.
It may be recalled that one of the main objectives of the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan was to reduce or eliminate open defecation through the construction of individual, cluster and community toilets. Various cities and states have already achieved this and students urged people to ensure that their neighbourhood too is declared totally open defecation free.
Conducted under the leadership of Dr VineetMehrotra, the rally saw the participation of many staff members including Dr RajatDimri, Rahul Baluni, Ankit Sharma apart from many others.
