About Centre for Library and Information Management (CLIM)

The Centre for Library and Information Management (CLIM) has been established with an aim to prepare quality human resources in the area of Library and Information Sciences (LIS) which is fast becoming an amalgamation of traditional library theories and latest information technology. CLIM aims to achieve excellence in the field of Library and Information Management. The centre offers Bachelor’s and Master’s in Library and Information Science. The programs are based on the practices and underlying theories of information acquisition, organisation, dissemination and utilization.

The Centre functions under the overall guidance of Prof. Yogendra Singh, Ex-Librarian (Senior Professor Scale) and a Fulbright Scholar known for use of information technology is LIS. He has more than forty years of experience in LIS at national and international level including Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO), IIT Roorkee, University of Maryland USA, University of Alberta Canada. Best possible curriculum based on the LIS in above institutions shall be developed.

MISSION

The mission of CLIM is to train students in various aspects of modern library management. CLIM aim to provide theoritical knowledge enriched with practical training on latest technology. Our goal is to prepare our students as competent professionals in the field by imparting employability skill, based on effective communication, critical thinking and ethical literacy.

Bachelor in Library & Information Science - BLIS

Duration - 1 Year | Semester Pattern & Credit System

The program aims to teach students the fundamental principles of librarianship, helping them understand and appreciate the evolving role of libraries in society. It focuses on developing their knowledge of information sources and the skills needed to provide both traditional and modern library services. Additionally, it prepares students with the professional qualifications necessary for a career in librarianship

Masters of Library and Information Sciences - MLIS

Level - Postgraduate | Duration - 1 Years

The program Master of Library and Information Sciences (MLIS) program through the Centre for Library and Information Sciences (CLIS). The program aims to educate students on both traditional library theory and the latest information technology so they can manage libraries and information centers in the modern world. The program also emphasizes the philosophy, principles, and ethics of the library information profession.

Experience: Library management has more than four decades of experience in Librarianship including about 20 years as Librarian IIT Roorkee and twelve years as Scientist in DRDO.

Special Interests: Information Retrieval, Knowledge Management, Software Documentation, Library Management, Information Management, Information Literacy, E-Learning, RFID application, Archival Management, Institutional Repositories, IPR in LIS, Marketing of LIS.
