World Emergency Medicine Day celebrated at Himalayan Hospital Jolly Grant

World Emergency Medicine Day was celebrated at Himalayan Hospital Jollygrant. On this occasion, programs were organized on the theme that climate change is also a health emergency.

Addressing the medical students in a program organized by the Emergency Medicine Department on Monday, Deputy Chief Medical Superintendent Dr. DC Joshi said that Emergency Medicine Day was started by the European Society for Emergency Medicine. It was first celebrated on 27 May 2019. The goal of establishing this day is to raise awareness of the vital role of emergency medicine and to provide resources and training for emergency medical professionals while advocating for better support. Head of the Department of Emergency Medicine, Dr. Reshma Kaushik said that climate change is also a health emergency. This year this day is being celebrated with this theme. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), climate change is the greatest health threat currently facing humanity. Climate change is affecting people's health in myriad ways. This includes increased deaths and illness from increasingly frequent weather events, such as heatwaves, storms and floods, disruptions to food systems, increases in water- and vector-borne diseases, and mental health issues. During this period a quiz competition was organised. 45 medical students participated in it. In which Martin and team was the winner of the quiz competition. On this occasion, Dr. Mukta Singh, Dr. Ruby Kataria, Dr. Komal Thakur, Dr. Himanshi Baidya was included.
