76th Independence Day celebrated with fervour at SRHU

A check of Rs Four lakh was handed over Bronze Medalist at Deaflympics

76th Independence Day was celebrated with great fervor at Swami Ram Himalayan University. During this, the students and teachers of the university put up a patriotic show replete with impressive performances.

Dr. Vijay Dhasmana, Vice Chancellor SRHU took the salute of the parade by hoisting the flag. Earlier, he paid floral tributes to the soldiers who had sacrificed their lives for the defense of the country at the Wall of Bravery.

Addressing the university personnel present on this occasion, he said
that 15th August 1947 is a very special day, as on this day India attained freedom. “We should always be proud that we got this freedom after the sacrifice of thousands of freedom fighters. Now it should be our duty to take our country forward on the strength of our efficiency,” he stated.

Dr. Vijay felicitated Shaurya Saini, an SRHU student who won bronze medal at the Deaflympics held in Brazil, by gifting him a check of Rs.4 lakh.

Apart from this, Meenakshi & Riya Negi (GNM) bagged the first prize in the Rangoli Competition; Ayushi Kumari, Babita & Divya Rawat (BSc Nursing), bagged the second prize and Sarika Pokhriyal, Anshul Sharma & Ayushi Bhatt, won the third prize.

In the Speech Competition Tushan Kumar bagged the first prize (MBBS); the second prize was won by Nikita Maithani (BSc Biotechnology); the third prize was bagged by Komal Mishra (BASLP); and the fourth prize was won by Sowmya Khanna (MBBS). Muskan (BSc Nursing) and Vaishnawi Baloni (BSc Nursing) received consolation prizes. In all there were 73 participants, 23 Finalists and 6 Winners.
