Biotech Consortium India Ltd. (BCIL) and Swami Rama Himalayan University (SRHU) Forge Partnership for Technology Transfer and Commercialization

In a significant development aimed at fostering innovation and technology transfer, Biotech Consortium India Ltd. (BCIL) and Swami Rama Himalayan University (SRHU) have entered into a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) to collaborate on the transfer and commercialization of intellectual properties (IPs) and technologies developed at SRHU. The MoU was signed on 29 March 2024

Under the agreement, BCIL, a company promoted by the Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India, will work closely with SRHU to identify promising technologies and facilitate their transfer to suitable companies in India and abroad for translation and commercialization.

Dr. Purnima Sharma, Managing Director of BCIL, emphasized the importance of robust IP management and public-private partnerships in driving innovation and economic growth. She expressed confidence in the partnership's potential to create new opportunities for industry collaboration and technology commercialization.

SRHU, known for its research excellence and commitment to technology development, will play a crucial role in providing the necessary technical expertise and know-how for the successful transfer of technologies. Dr. Rajendra Dobhal, Vice Chancellor of SRHU, highlighted the university's dedication to fostering a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship among its faculty and students.

Key highlights of the MOU include provisions for technology evaluation, licensing agreements, IP management, and quality assurance measures. Both parties have committed to a ten-year partnership with provisions for extension based on mutual consent

Speaking on behalf of SRHU, Dr. Rajendra Dobhal emphasized the university's commitment to promoting a conducive environment for technology transfer and commercialization. He expressed optimism about the collaboration's potential to drive socio-economic development and create new avenues for research and innovation in the region.
