International Day of Girls and Women in Science celebrated at SRHU
International Day of Girls and Women in Science was celebrated at Swami Rama Himalayan University, Jollygrant. In the program organized on this occasion, women who played important roles in science and technology were remembered.
On Monday, the program organized by Research and Development Cell in Adi Kailash Auditorium was inaugurated with the lighting of the lamp in front of the portrait of Dr. Swami Rama. Chief Guest Dr. Rajendra Dobhal, Vice Chancellor of Swami Rama Himalayan University said that the International Day of Women and Girls in Science has been implemented by UNESCO and UN-Women in collaboration with institutions and civil society partners, the aim of which is to promote women and girls in science.
The day is an opportunity to promote full and equal access and participation in science for women and girls. Special guest Dr. Meenu Singh, Director and CEO of AIIMS Rishikesh, said that the presence of women in science can be traced to the early stages of the history of science in which they have made significant contributions. Diversity in research expands the pool of talented researchers, bringing new perspectives, talent and creativity to the fore. The day is a reminder that women and girls play an important role in science and technology communities and their participation should be strengthened. Director Research Cell, Dr. Bindu Dey welcomed all the guests present while giving information about celebrating this day. Nursing Advisor Dr. Kathy said that 80 percent of the nurses working in India are women, which shows that women are progressing rapidly. In the program, Yoga Science students demonstrated various asanas and gave information about their benefits. Engineering students presented Rajasthani dance. Dr. Purandhi Roopmani thanked everyone. On this occasion, Registrar Dr. Mukesh Bijlwan, Dr. Sunil Saini etc. were present.
