SRHU Hosts Workshop on Reference Management Using Zotero & Mendeley

SRHU Library System organized a workshop on “Reference Management through Zotero & Mendeley Software” on 28th March 2025 at BC Roy Auditorium. The session aimed to equip faculty members, research scholars, and students with essential tools and techniques to streamline reference management in academic and scientific writing.

The workshop was inaugurated by Dr. Rajendra Dobhal, Vice Chancellor, SRHU. In his address, Dr. Dobhal highlighted the importance of reference management as a vital skill for researchers. He emphasized that efficient referencing not only strengthens academic work but also fosters deeper thinking and ignites creativity in the research process.

Prof. Ashok Kumar Deorari, Principal, Himalayan Institute of Medical Sciences (HIMS), delivered a motivating address that set the tone for the workshop. He spoke about the relevance of using such tools to maintain academic integrity and enhance the quality of scholarly writing.

The session was led by Prof. Yogendra Singh, University Librarian and the resource person for the workshop. He provided participants with hands-on insights and practical guidance on effectively using Zotero and Mendeley — popular, free software tools used globally for managing references, preparing bibliographies, and organizing research materials. Prof. Singh highlighted how these tools can be leveraged in thesis writing, scientific publications, and overall academic research workflows.

The event witnessed active participation from across various schools of the university with around 56 attendees comprising postgraduate students, research scholars, and faculty members. University staff including Mr. Abhishek Kumar Pandey, Mr. Shashi Shekhar, Mr. Inder Pal Singh, Mr. Ajay Bangari, Mr. Kailash Uniyal, and Ms. Vandana were also present and contributed to the smooth conduct of the workshop.

The workshop served as a valuable learning platform, further reinforcing SRHU’s commitment to fostering academic excellence and research-oriented culture within the campus.
