The Science of Joyful Living workshop held at Rajbhawan Uttarakhand, aimed to help the attendees discover the joy that lies within

Governor Lt. Gen. Gurmit Singh (Retd) blessed the occasion as chief guest

6th of September was a day to remember at Rajbhawan Uttarakhand. In the august presence of the Governor Lt. Gen. Gurmit Singh (Retd), a host of invited guests, including chancellors of various universities, were imparted a lesson in optimism and inspiration, at a special workshop titled ‘The Science of Joyful Living’, based on the teachings of Swami Rama, the greatest of philosophers born out of the soil of Uttarakhand. The workshop unfolded the path to maintain a joyful view of life even in difficult times.

The workshop got underway with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by Governor Uttarakhand, Lt General Gurmit Singh (Retd).

Thereafter expert doctors of Himalayan University presented their views on the scientific approach to the art of living, a blissful life and explained how every person can be happy in life.

Dr Vijay Dhasmana, Chancellor SRHU, elaborated upon living a blissful life through constructive use of emotions, along with proper diet and exercise based on the teachings of Swami Rama. He focused on the concept of a healthy mind in a healthy body. He provided information about the importance of a balanced diet, and said that just as proper eating and regular exercise are necessary to keep the body healthy, Pranayama for breathing and meditation are essential to keep the mind calm.

Dr Prakash Keshaviya and Dr Renu Dhasmana provided information regarding mind and meditation connect, methods of meditation and importance of diet.

The Governor congratulated Dr Vijay Dhasmana, and his team for organizing such a meaningful event at the Raj Bhavan. He said, “We always ask ourselves how to be happy and, today, the expert doctors of Himalayan University have given the solution. It is necessary for each of us to be happy but due to circumstances, we become unhappy. The information given today about how to live life happily even in stressful times will be useful in every person's life.”

The Governor added, “Happiness always needs to be brought from within. We have to make a habit of always being happy.”
